“Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.” (Luke 17:26-30)
We are as a nation moving very fast in the footsteps of Sodom and Gomorroh. “President Obama today announced that he now supports same-sex marriage, reversing his longstanding opposition amid growing pressure from the Democratic base and even his own vice president.” (yahoo.com) It is now only a matter of time before a national law is passed before giving the green light to same-sex marriage. As it was in the days of Lot, one of the chief sin was same-sex relationships, as we read here in Genesis 19:4-5. “But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.”
Another issue in the days of Lot was “…they did eat, they drank…”, gluttony was an issue then, it is an issue now. From the Huffingtonpost it reads, “Today, just over a third of U.S. adults are obese. By 2030, 42 percent will be, says a forecast released Monday.”
“According to surveys included in the PollingReport.com database, an average of 50 percent of American adults support same-sex marriage rights while 45 percent oppose it, based on an average of nine surveys conducted in the past year.”
“This is a reversal from earlier periods: support for same-sex marriage has been increasing, and opposition to it has been decreasing, at a relatively steady rate of perhaps two or three percentage points a year since 2004.” NY Times
Is there a correlation between our eating habits and our moral change in regards to same-sex marriage?
I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD. Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel. For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name. (Amos 4:11-13)
