Happy New Year to all, and may “The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. ” (Numbers 6:24-26)
We all must have heard “Happy New Year” at least several times already for the day. It is a good wonderful greeting as we embark on another year of unknown. God only knows the end from the beginning, “Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done…” (Isaiah 46:10) But the Bible also tells us that, “…He revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.” (Amos 3:7) “The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.” (Deuteronomy 29:29) God has revealed many prophecies through His word, and many of those prophecies were fulfilled in 2015.
Then in following in prophetic principles 2016 will be an even more eventful year. The Bible likens the coming of the Lord to a woman that is about to give birth. As the time draws near, birth pain increases and are more intense and the pains are closer together. (See Rev. 2:12)
We know not the day of the hour, but we know when it is near, even at the door. (see Matthew 24:6 & 33) Some of the major prophecies we have seen fulfill last year is the “legalization of gay marriage in the US” (see Luke 17:28-30 & Genesis 19), strange weather – including drought, flood, cold when it should be hot and hot when it should be cold; tornadoes one day and blizzard the next. (See Luke 21:11). We have see the surge in the terror group ISIS activities and media attention, this has to do with more than meets the eyes. “Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” (Luke 21:26-28)
We can mention much more, the escalating crime, instability world wide, political corruption, a very shaky world economy, etc. But as we have entered a new year, which has its troubles that we do not know of, let us “turn our eyes upon Jesus”. This is the only way that we can make it through the “Perfect Storm” that the world has now find itself in.
There are not many, even among educators and statesmen, who comprehend the causes that underlie the present state of society. Those who hold the reins of government are not able to solve the problem of moral corruption, poverty, pauperism, and increasing crime. They are struggling in vain to place business operations on a more secure basis. If men would give more heed to the teaching of God’s word, they would find a solution of the problems that perplex them. – {9T 13.3}
